Guest guest
Has anyone out there had nasal surgery at the same time as their jaw. I'm having septoplasty, they are reducing my inferior turbinates, and also doing upper and lower. I'm wondering what the recovery is like. I hear people on this board who complain about congestion, but imagine it is even worse with the nasal surgery at the same time. Do you have difficulty breathing? Guest guest
I had just septoplasty 5 years ago. The recovery was brief. I had difficulty breathing first few days while the packing was still in the nose. After the packing was removed I had no problems breathing at all. After 2 days at home I was able to go back to work. > > Has anyone out there had nasal surgery at the same time as their > jaw. Guest guest
I had septoplasty and inferior turbinate surgery on December 5, 2003. I had a splint not packing. I thought it was just horrible, I was in a lot of pain and couldn't breathe through my nose at all. I wound up taking 1 1/2 weeks off work and I should have taken longer b/c I felt so out of it and was still taking half a percocet while back at work for the pain. Having the splint taken out at 9 days post op was probably one of the worst experiences of my life. I was absolutely hysterical, the nurse couldn't get it out and was going to get the doctor and I said please don't leave me and she calmed down and finally got it. A year later and I still have sensitivity when I touch the bottom of my nose, blow my nose, etc. It doesn't feel the same as it used to before surgery. Maybe I am just a big baby but for everyone that saw me after this they knew something was wrong with me from the way I looked. This is why I am scared/hesitant about my upcoming jaw surgery. > > Has anyone out there had nasal surgery at the same time as their > jaw. Guest guest
I had lower advance and septoplasty on Monday, Dec 20. My nose is packed and my jaws are wired. It has not been as hard a I thought it would be. Just annoying. My OS cut some tube that I put between my lips and teeth that realy helps me to breath. Today is the first day that congestion has been a problem, but I know I will make it through it. I go to the OS tomorrow to get the packing out of my noes. So right now I am staying focused on that. > > Has anyone out there had nasal surgery at the same time as their > jaw.
