Guest guest
Hi All, I'll be two weeks post-op tomorrow and will be seeing my orthodontist for the first time. I'm obviously not really able to open my mouth much so I'm wondering what exactly he's going to do. Just check me out? Take off the surgical hooks? thanks, Maddie

Guest guest
Hi Maddie, It may be too late for this reply, but I'll reply anyway I saw my orthodontist briefly one week post op (my OS and orthodontist are in the same office building). I had upper jaw surgery, where my upper jaw was segmented in 3 pieces. Which meant my OS had to clip my wire where he was segmenting my jaw, which left long pokey wires on either side of my front 4 teeth! Totally annoying! So my orthodontist clipped them off and rounded them off so I don't even notice them anymore. Other than that, he looked around a little, very gently, to see what the OS had done. But mostly we just talked. I won't see him again until I get the splint out in 4-6 more weeks! Oh, and the hooks I have are just part of the brackets I'll have the entire time I'm in braces. I celebrated not having to get more hooks for surgery, but that also means I don't get to lose them until I'm done with the whole process either. My orthodontist did say last week that I will have some bands the entire rest of the time I have braces, and I would need the hooks for that too. Oh well! > > Hi All, > > I'll be two weeks post-op tomorrow and will be seeing my orthodontist for the first time. > I'm obviously not really able to open my mouth much so I'm wondering what exactly he's > going to do. Guest guest
Thanks, ! I'm on West Coast time, so it's not too late. It's getting easier to open my mouth so I'm less worried today. I even had a bit of roast beef last night, albeit tiny 1/8 " pieces of mostly fat. But still! > > > > Hi All, > > > > I'll be two weeks post-op tomorrow and will be seeing my > orthodontist for the first time. > > I'm obviously not really able to open my mouth much so I'm > wondering what exactly he's > > going to do.
