Guest guest
After reading the posts, I think my surgery was much more intense then others. I had one cut in the upper and lower and my chin moved 4mm for eveness. my surgery was close to 9 hours!!! When talking to the surgeon before the surgery, this seemed normal...2-3 hours for the top, same for the bottom and 2 for the chin, plus time for wiring. If my surgeon was too " anal and precise " I am glad, but I am just curious. thanks, I am off to get the wires cut!!! (hopefully) b.

Guest guest
I had upper only, segmented in 3 pieces. Surgery for me was right around 4.25 hours I think. Surgery started at 10:15, I think I was done right around 2:30 (according to my mom), but I don't remember being awake and moving to my hospital room until 4. > > After reading the posts, I think my surgery was much more intense > then others. Guest guest
Hour and a half. I had my lower jaw set back a measly 3 mm and paranasal implants put in up near my nose. Looking back it's almost surreal how quickly it all happened. I showed up at the hospital at 11:30 am, checked in, changed into my gown, got an IV, met with the anesthesiologist, and walked into the operating room with her at 12:30. I remember looking at the clock in the recovery room and it said 4:00 pm, but then a nurse corrected his coworker and said, " Oh no, the clock's wrong, it's only 3:00. " I was back home by 5:30. Guest guest
My surgery was 6 hours, I had the lower moved back 3 mm and upper advanced 5 mm. Thanks to my surgeons precision, I was only loosely banded for 1 week and wore a splint for 2 weeks. I was able to eat soft food by day three. Guest guest
As one very fine surgeon reminded me recently, this is no " one size (or procedure) fits all " arrangments. In fact, it is highly individualized. You may have had special or unusual challenges. Your surgeon may have chosen different procedures because he gets better results with them, or because they were particularly suited to your needs. Or it may just be that he's found he gets the best results by applying more hours to his procedures. If you got the result you wanted and needed (and, of course, if you got your wires off today!) then you're way ahead in the game, and you and your surgeon are to be congratulated. What happens with someone else may be completely irrelevant to what he decided you needed. Best, Cammie > > After reading the posts, I think my surgery was much more intense > then others.
