I still drink from glasses, bottles, cans...just not alcohol. I

still eat...just not refined carbs. I can't think of anything I do

like cigarettes. I DO drink diet colas now and then...some caffiene

there. Judging by the number of private emails I have received

agreeing with and/or supporting my viewpoint, people are afraid to

let their thoughts be known here. Flaming? NAAAWWW??? Corrine

Maybe I am just extraordinarily dense, but I haven't seen any flaming on this

topic, or on almost any topic (at least, not since the great calcium wars of

2002). If you're not sure what flaming is, I could direct you to some other

groups that have it down pat! Even I tread softly on some of those groups.

I will note that I often post to people privately, and it has nothing to do with

being afraid, and everything to do with being polite, germaine, and thoughtful.

But for everyone who is too " afraid " to post publicly - y'all can always write

to me privately too :)

Kate,

>

> I commend you for posting privately.

I got admit....I'm a little confused here. A couple of weeks ago someone

posted stating that they didn't want " private " e-mails....that they post

here because it is a " public " forum and they were offended to get private

e-mails and thought that everything should stay on the board!! And then

several others agreed with them. Personally I am very nervous (for the most

part) about e-mailing people privately. Are there any set " rules " for

this?? Thanks, P.

While you can't control what folks do offlist, some lists have a rule that

if you start spamming or flaming another list member offlist, and the

offended party provides proof of this to the list moderator, that the

spammer/flamer is removed from the list -- usually there will be a warning,

and if the behavior continues, the offender is banned. This is pretty

extreme, but it becomes necessary from time to time. I moderated a list

where one member was continually sending offensive, sometimes pornographic

email to other members of the list, and I had to ban him, as well as report

him to his ISP.

And of course, anyone who doesn't want to receive private emails from

someone can set filters that only certain email comes through -- I block

addresses all the time when there is a need. There is always that button off

to the right, too.

Well this is good :) I must have misread the person's post......I thought

they were stating that they had a " right " to not receive private e-mails

because it originated from a public forum.......sorry for the

confusion............THANKS, P.
