Guest guest
Hi All, I had been lurking in this group for a while and just had surgery on Wednesday. I had my upper jaw moved forward approx 6mm. I posted pics under something or other in the album. As to be expected I am still swollen. I can eat milkshakes and thinned mashed potatos with a baby spoon. I am banded with 6 bands two of which may come off tomorrow when I see the OS again. The roof of my mouth is numb but other than that I seem to have pretty good sensation. I am really tired of mashed potatos and milkshakes but the thought of anything else pureed makes me more nauseated than I already am. I can open fairly widely much to the surpirse of my OS and his staff. I am hoping to get the ok to try some more substantial foods. I had my surgery done at Chester Country Hospital located in the Phildelphia suburb of West Chester. The nursing staff was excellent and very attentive. The day of surgery they gave me nothing to eat afterward which was fine as I wasn't up to anything anyway. I dran lots of apple juice and when I was finally able to unrinate boy was that impressive! I haved several unused zip_n_squeeze bags and 4 jaw wraps with ice packs that I didn't need to use and if anyone wants them you can have them for $10 plus the cost of shipping for the whole lot. My OS doesn't see much benefit in using ice after the first 24 hours. Thanks to all who have shared their stories. This journey hasn't been fun but atleast now I am on the downhill side. Sincerely,

Guest guest
don't be in too great a hurry. My jaw muscles are screaming at me and I am tired of eating mush. I hope your treatment goes well > > i can't wait to be where you are now. > > > > > > >

Guest guest
Congrats... There probably is no benefit for ice after 24 hours, but my daughter liked the sensation on her cheeks so we iced for several days, what ever made her happy Good luck in your recovery Just had surgery wednesday Hi All, I had been lurking in this group for a while and just had surgery on Wednesday. Guest guest
You don't look that swollen in your pictures. I am 5 weeks post op from upper and genio and I look like you in your day 3 pic. I still have swelling in my nose, cheeks and upper lip and am really ready for it to be gone. Soon you will be able to eat more. I am able to eat pasta and soft food as long as I don't bit into them with my front teeth. Good luck with everything, > > Hi All, > I had been lurking in this group for a while and just had surgery on Wednesday. I had my > upper jaw moved forward approx 6mm.
