Guest guest
Hi Everybody! Happy New Year. Christmas day was my six month mark from upper, lower, genio surgery and i thought i'd post my status and progress as random as this writing may appear to be! I am JUST starting to get used to my new face/look. I do mourn for the old " me " . I see some of my old " good " pictures and think they look pretty good, i have not seen many good ones yet post surgery and i think that is because i have symmetry issues. My chin was off center prior to surgery but nobody noticed it. i have photos posted under " - off center chin " . It is very noticeable now post surgery. This summer i will be having an implant to even out the look, i pay for implant surgeon pays for surgery. i may have him tighten up my nose. my nostrils really widened after surgery. I am thankful for the no gummy smile. i had a mile of gum showing before and now do not. i do have what looks to by assymetry, but is related to " muscle pull " , most of us have it. When i smile now, on one side i see a tad bit of gum above my teeth, on other side my upper lip covers upper part of teeth. i am still numb on left side of tongue, and partially on roof, gums, lower lip and chin. the tongue is what bothers me the most. i have gotten used to the chin numbness believe it or not. i still cannot feel if something is dribbling on lower lip to a great degree. always checking! i can " smack my lips " together fine now, as in rubbing chapstick on, but still cannot run my tongue around my mouth as i used to to clear food, say, after eating. I pretty much carry a toothbrush with me everywhere. i can breather MUCH easier through my nose. my lips come together and i keep my mouth closed well, which was a problem before. I do have a lot more mucous and blow my nose a lot more, whatever that is all about. I have a chin! i was very recessive before, now i do have a profile. i seem to like my look from one side more than the other! My OD " polished " between all teeth on left side, upper and lower, which created space and is shifting my whole set of teeth to the left. this will obviously take a while, but what the heck at this point, i want things as best as they can be without going overboard. THis will help a midline issue that i think is all related to the off center jaw thing. that is going well. My hope is that my implant works out well and that i get MOST of my feeling back in my tongue. the other areas i can live with. I have not been on the board in a loooooonnnnnggg time. I hope all is well with everyone! D, Massachusetts

Guest guest
Wanted to also add, i can open very wide but not as wide as post surgery, almost though. yawning has JUST gotten comfortable. i was banded for 3 months pulling bite together on one side, so there was a lot of muscle atrophy there. no more earaches. i do feel a tingle/slight pain in the left tongue that is numb when i yawn really hard and when i chew down on left side really hard as in steak, pork, etc. Wondering if there is a possibility of a pinched nerve in the left joint side. > > Hi Everybody! Guest guest
, nasal turbinectomies is basically having excess bone and cartilige (sp??) removed from your sinuses and nasal passages....so in affect...you can breathe much easier. i had always been a mouth breather before...couldn't get enough air in through my nose. but now after having that surgery done in conjuction with my jaw surgery...i can breathe sooo much better...minus the clogged nose thing. but yeah...i'll definitely let ya know what i find out!!
