Guest guest
Hey everyone, Just got home from my week 3 post-op appointment with my OS, so I thought I'd post a quick update. My gums have good blood flow once again, so that doesn't seem to be a concern anymore (thank goodness!!) I asked if I could expand my diet anymore. That got a " no " . He said if I can't swallow it without choking on it without chewing I can't have it. No chewing whatsoever. I said " not even noodles?? " (having a craving for mac & cheese), he said no He also said that when I change the bands in the morning (I still have 6) I should take some time to start working my jaw muscles again..open and close my mouth about 40 times before replacing the bands. Sounds like fun, gives me something to do! He did say my bite is " rock solid " this morning, which was great to hear! I'm not on any prescription pain meds anymore...I take one tylenol per day to combat muscle tightness and headaches. Otherwise, things are great

Guest guest
I had surgery about 2 weeks ago and I have found that if you only put a little bit of mac and cheese on a teaspoon then you should be able to swallow. Cook the noodles until they are almost too done though and this should help! Good luck. > > Hey everyone, > > Just got home from my week 3 post-op appointment with my OS, so I > thought I'd post a quick update. > > My gums have good blood flow once again, so that doesn't seem to be a > concern anymore (thank goodness!!) > > I asked if I could expand my diet anymore. Guest guest
Good to hear! I will definitely try it tomorrow! Even if it takes all day to eat a bowl of mac and cheese, I will do it! Thanks for your post! > > > > Hey everyone, > > > > Just got home from my week 3 post-op appointment with my OS, so I > > thought I'd post a quick update. > > > > My gums have good blood flow once again, so that doesn't seem to be > a > > concern anymore (thank goodness!!) > > > > I asked if I could expand my diet anymore. Guest guest
I certainly would not suggest going against what your OS advised about food but from my experience there are quite a few things that can be swallowed without chewing if you cut them up small enough and take very small amounts at a time. I do not have a big sweet tooth so the milkshakes and ensure got old after a couple of days. From day 3 until my third week post op I pretty much lived off of cottage cheese, applesauce, spaghetti (cut up very small), soups and my favorite was bread drowned in gravy (again cut up very small, it gets mushy and does not require you to chew). I even had a beef burritto from Taco Bell although I only ate the filling and had to mash up each bite with my fork first. Things do get better though. My OS told me at my 3 week check to go out and have a Mcs hamburger. Only problem then was that I could not get my mouth open far enough to take a bite so I had to tear things apart. I am not at six weeks and eating pretty much everything except for steak. I think I will wait a few more weeks before trying that. Good luck > > Hey everyone, > > Just got home from my week 3 post-op appointment with my OS, so I > thought I'd post a quick update. > > My gums have good blood flow once again, so that doesn't seem to be a > concern anymore (thank goodness!!) > > I asked if I could expand my diet anymore. Guest guest
Bread drowned in gravy sounds SO good! Kind of like an open faced sandwich without the meat...a fantastic idea! Thanks!!
