Guest guest
I am new to this group and am excited to find out more about the surgery I am trying to get done. I have been in need of Orthognathic Surgery since I've been little. I was going to get braces when I was 11, but had brain surgery instead. I am fine now, but have had to deal with an uncomfortable and embarrassing overbite for the majority of my life. I can't close my mouth properly. So a few years ago I finally decided to get it fixed, went to a consultation with an Oral Surgeon and when I was told the pricetag on a new mouth I thought twice and have continued to push it aside. I recently got married and while the day was amazing and beautiful-half of my mind was always worrying about the photographer, whether or not he was going to catch a horrible shot of my teeth hanging out. I doubt that most brides could say they had that worry on their minds on their wedding day. So I've had enough. I'm making it my New Year's resolution to get this started for real. I guess my main concern right now is how in the world will I afford it? My insurance already declined it when I went in for that first consultation. Does anyone have any advice on this matter? I have been reading your posts and they are so encouraging. I wish the best of luck to you all! Thank you in advance for any advice!

Guest guest
Hi, just had my surgery approved by my insurance co. They deny the first request, it is standard. But my Dr. kept writinng letters and finally they gave in. Have your Dr. plead your case. It works but you have to keep trying. Good Luck! Guest guest
Thanks for the advice. I will re-submit as soon as I find an OS I am sure of. So the doctor has to write the letters? Would it help if I did too or do they pay attention to that? Thanks! > > > > > I am new to this group and am excited to find out > > more about the > > surgery I am trying to get done. Guest guest
I was told advised by my OD to let the OS handle all the filing of requests. They are better equipped to handle the insurance company's. > > > > > > > > I am new to this group and am excited to find out > > > more about the > > > surgery I am trying to get done.
