Guest guest
Hi all, I am new to this group and am so glad to have found your little community! I am scheduled for an RPE (rapid palette expansion) for my upper jaw, for Jan 11th, 2005. Needless to say, I am nervous and worried (like everyone else, I'm sure) about 4 main things: 1) Pain. I gather that its surprisingly not that painful but would love to hear more evidence of this. 2) Swelling/Bruising. I wish to get back to school as soon as I can postOp, and have heard conflicting things on how long it truly takes to reach that critical point of healing 3) Weight Loss. I am already on the skinny side, and being tall even a few pounds lost show on me - in a bad way. I do not want to lose weight, and just don't see why people do if they're eating icecream and milkshakes all day long? 4) Aesthetics. I am doing this to fix a slight crossbite in the back. Doc says it will hardly have any impact on my looks, which is great (I don't want any). But would still like to hear from others what their major change was after RPE procedures (cheekbones, nose, etc). Also, the whole gap in the front two teeth thing...what's that like and how long did it last? ANY and all insights will be most appreciated. Thank you all SO much for contributing to this wonderful community and GOOD LUCK to everyone!
