So many medical professionals (and other assorted " plain old " people apparently) just want to see what's printed in books, not bothering to care about or consider what's actually happening to PEOPLE. >>>> this has been a huge controversy within the thyroid community for many many years. in the last five years several well know doctors have come out and said forget the labs, what do the patients feel? synthroid does not convert from T4 to T3 in everyone and maybe that needs to be treated. anyhow, I won't cut and paste or run on about the whole conversion of meds but just last month the powers that be finally lowered the acceptable lab range for thyroid testing - basically meaning that more of us are hypothyroid and that more of us need higher doses vs. constant lowering of our dose making us feel fatigued all the time. many of the doctors aren't even aware that the lab range has been lowered so stay informed especially if you are hypothyroid. but it is a constant on-going problem that doctors only know what a medical book taught them or what a sales rep tells them about a drug and they won't listen to their patients. in my former life, I worked at Rutgers Univ. doing alcohol and caffeine research, I also worked for the company that prints medical textbooks and someone had to proof those books before they went to press - yes that was me. sue Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
