Guest guest
Hi, I had my surgery a week and a half ago (upper and lower) and I don't know if it is just the swelling or what but when I smile I look ridiculous. I didn't really notice it until today, but it makes me worried that I am going to look like a dork or that I will just have to walk around stone-faced all the time. My boyfriend (sweet as he has been)tried to reassure me by saying that it would go away and I would look " normal. " This of course just makes it clear that I don't look " normal " now. Anyone else had any difficulty smiling? Will it go away? HappyD

Guest guest
I had my first surger (upper/lower/genio) October 5, and I wasn't able to smile normally until maybe 3 to 4 weeks afterwards due to the swelling and the feeling that the insides of my cheeks kept getting caught on my k-hooks. After my second surgery on 11/9 (upper/lower), it wasn't so bad. The majority of the swelling takes a few weeks to subside, so hang in there! I know it's difficult to be patient when the healing takes so long and we want to show off our new smiles which are the bottom line in why we have surgery to begin with! > > Hi, > > I had my surgery a week and a half ago (upper and lower) and I don't > know if it is just the swelling or what but when I smile I look > ridiculous. Guest guest
I am almost 7 weeks post op from upper and genio and I still can't smile right. It is very tight and hurts at times when I smile too big. I still have swelling and am hoping when all the swelling is gone the smile will come back. Not that this helps, but I keep getting told give it time. So hopefully after some time (my OS said it could be 6 months) it will be better. > > Hi, > > I had my surgery a week and a half ago (upper and lower) and I don't > know if it is just the swelling or what but when I smile I look > ridiculous. Guest guest
Hey ! i am almost four weeks post op and I still have a pretty " creepy " smile. But I have noticed it improving. My husband says it isn't as bad as the first two weeks. Hopefully it gets better because I'm having the same feelings as you. Happy healing (and looking forward to a great big smile too!) Guest guest
If this is the look of " the Joker, " in Batman, there used to be a fair number of posts about folks seeing that look. Haven't seen any lately, but in every single case, it went away.
