Guest guest
Janet, It sounds like you did GREAT!!! Compared to what I did, and I'm not even sweatin it!! I figure even the attempt made me waaay more aware of what I was putting into my mouth, and while I was in no way perfect during this past week, I am now more conscious of what I am doing when I go to eat something. That alone is half the battle!! Congrats on doing so well and your 3# loss. Deanna Re: the protein fast Hi all, I didn't do as well as I thought I would do. Wasn't able to go the full 3 days on just protein shakes and water, but with the exception of a protein bar that had too much sugar in it on the third day, the solid food I did eat was okay as far as food choices go. Just a couple of soy crackers, a piece of steak and the protein bars, (2 of them.) I didn't do badly, I'm only disappointed that I couldn't follow through with the plan as originally stated. All in all though, I am happy with the results, (lost 3 pounds,) and definitely curbed my need for carbs. Not one jelly bean has passed my lips since I began the fast. It was worth it for that reason alone! I am the original jelly bean addict. I also agree with Joanie and I will continue to include the protein fast as a regular once a week part of my routine. Maybe with time and determination I will get better at it! My real problem is that food has always been my crutch and just the last few months it has been sneaking up on me again, but now I will be more vigilant. Guest guest
Well, I can tell you the fast that I DIDN't follow to the tee: That was: Approx. 1 quart of protein drink throughout the day (that consisted of: 6 ice cubes, 1/3 cup soy protein, 1 cup n/f plain yogurt, 2 cups n/f skim milk, 2 tbls. Of brewer's yeast, 2 tbls. Bee pollen, 3 tbls. Wheat germ, 1 small banana, 1 cup frozen mixed berries, no sugar added). Then, for lunch, cottage cheese and tuna or a chef salad, dinner some sort of meat and cottage cheese. This is basically what I ate shortly after surgery and followed throughout most of the first year and about 6 months of the last year, and I lost 160 lbs. This was not the fast that most people were following, from what I gathered reading the posts. I think everyone kind of settled into their own version of what they were going to do. As I said, that would have been what I would've eaten had I followed this thing to the letter. But, as I said also, I did gain a sense of awareness that I had lost. Best of luck to you, and realize that none of us are perfect, but we can perfect a lifestyle that will work for us, with a little work put into it.
