I am not quite pissed off, but I am feeling a little tingly feeling

regarding sizes.

I went to a sale a week ago. I had to buy a whole new wardrobe. It

was not fun. I could not for the life of me know what size to try

on. After two agonizing days of trying on clothes, I walked away

with things from size 14 to 18.

Yesterday when I was on the bike reading my gym mag, there happened

to be an article about this very subject. The people who write the

article went around measuring different clothing lines, and guess

what? Major discrepacncy.

They said some manufacturers resort to " vanity " sizes. Could this be

why a size 16 of Liz is loose on me while Tommy Hilfeger fits and a

size 18 of a Newport News order is way too small? No way I am a size

16. I am 5'10 " and 230 pounds.

The article said that some manufacturers use " vanity " sizes because

when people see that they are a smaller size in one designer and a

larger size in another, they tend to stay loyal to the designer which

makes them think they are smaller.

And you thought we are obsessesd?

My pet peeve (well, one of them) was that the Women's Dept was always

on the top floor or in the basement all the way in the back of the

store...the old back of the bus syndrome.
