I needed to eat less so I had surgery. Many people believe I did not take

responsibility for my own health. Vicki you are sounding very angry and

I wasn't even talking about your specific drug. I was just talking

in general. Your thread prompted something in me and it has nothing

to do with what you were saying other than it made me think about how

the drug industry keeps trying to promote the " be gluttulous but

still be thin " menatality.

Do you know what my pet peeve is? I hate those magazines by the

checkout counter that always say " Lose 30 pounds by Easter!!! " and

then they have a picture of a big german chocolate cake on the cover.

You misread me. I am saying the diet industry taps in to people who

want to have their cake and eat it too.

I get so disgusted by these ads which show people who went from fat

to Arnie in 30 days. And if there really was a pill to make fat

people skinny, I think it would have gotten a lot more press than now.

The weight loss industry is a billion dollar industry. We have all

been a consumer of it. I went on liquid protein in the late 70's,

I've done slim fast, I've done over the counter diet pills, I've done

everything.

But whenever someone comes up and says they have a miracle

cure...bogus.

We wls patients know it is food intake and energy output.

Everybody should know that, but we are the ones who went to the brink.

And I am not angry. I am a happy little camper, I just have a big

mouth!

People spend tons of money for a miracle that states in the quicky speeding

by small print " along with diet and exercise " . Amazing!

Calories in and calories out is the key. Period. Thank God for a real tool

like WLS to help us get a shrinking leg up on the healthy way to live.

Now...can I just LISTEN to my own advice more often??? LOL
