Guest guest
Now I have been working towards this goal for a long time. Last Christmas season I was so disgusted with taking my kids skiing and sitting in the lodge and watching them ski, not to mention scared to death that I didn't know where they were on the mountain, that I made them a promise. I promised by this year I would lose enough weight to go skiing with them. Well, I have been putting it off, but ski season close the 27th, so I guess PPHHEEEWWW..I have a couple of sayings, but nothing does it so much as PHEEEEW. So, my son is going on an overnight with his 4th grade class and my daughter and I are going to go skiing. I don't know why I had fear about this. I lived the last three months in fear about this. But that is all bogus. I have spent the last year in the gym training, I am fit, I love speed, this is going to be awesomwe. Gung ho on the bunny hill!!!! It's so strange how sometimes our preconceptions of who we are and what we can do can actually make us fearful to go beyond. But we KNOW we can. Just like me now. Every time I told people that I, at 45 was going to ski at the first time, people would say stupid ass things like " well, don't go do a Sonny Bono " or you are going to hurt ooh my God be careful not to break anything. How much damage can you do on the bunny hill anyway? It would have been nice if someone would have said " Good for you, go for it " and it would have been even nicer if someone said " You can do it, You've earned it. You're going to have a fantastic time " . Oh well. One thing we learn in this journey is that WE DO IT FOR OURSELVES. We can't depend on others for approval or support. Sometimes the people who you thought were the closest to you turn against you. That happened with my stepmother, as some as you may know. She HATES that I am now a smaller size than she is. You would think she would be happy that I am healthy, but no, this has caused a major rift. Well, we all have to deal with these things. I am shifting from my role as the fatttest person in the family to somewhere else. Weight loss just doesn't effect the person who loses weight, it upsets the balance of the whole family. We should all recognize that because we are more educated in this field than the others. And by the way, I am much too happy to hold a grudge. Guest guest
Good for you Vicki. Give you a lot of credit. I tried skiing in my younger days and though enjoyed myself, it's not something I would search out to do now. I hate the cold. Looking forward to trying water skiing this summer. Never had the guts to try that. God forbid I was ever seen in a bathing suit!!!! So you go and enjoy and let us know how you did. I'm very proud of you. Reminds me of the reaction I get from people when I tell them I'm back at school now majoring in Mortuary Science. Their immediate reaction is " Oh my God, why would you want to do that? " or " You look so normal " . I used to fluff them off and now I just tell people that I like to feel like the God Father and that someday they're going to " require my services " and I'll be the first one they call. Pretty much shuts them up after that. So go live your life and enjoy your kids and the heck with everyone else. Regina

Guest guest
Vicki, That SO rocks grrrlie! Congratulations and good thing the season has been extended this year eh? I learned how to snowboard last season and even though I spent much of the 1st two trips on my butt, I loved it. I'm so happy for you that you get to do this.. .isn't it amazing??? I feel like the Silver Surfer now, and it's SO much fun. I'm hitting the slopes too here in Cali on Saturday.. I'll be thinking of you p.s. try a green run, you might be selling yourself short by sticking to the bunny hill all day (but it's still a huge accomplishment!) Free to ski Now I have been working towards this goal for a long time. So, my son is going on an overnight with his 4th grade class and my daughter and I are going to go skiing. Vicki A.
