Wow! Someone else who thinks like me! And how about that humans are the only species who drink the milk of another species! Odd right? I, too, do not drink milk (and I have never given cow's milk to my kids either) Sandy Boca Raton, FL postop ~ 03/27/02 265/

Guest guest
Humans are also the only species that drink milk after infancy...my kids don't get milk either (yogurt and cheese) but there is no pouring a glass of milk in my house. Odd right? I, too, do not drink milk (and I have never given cow's milk to my kids either) I don't drink milk, but I do use milk products like butter and cheese -- we have milk in the house, and my kids use it on their cereal. You never see anyone in this house drinking milk as a beverage -- don't know if that's because they've never seen me drink it, or if it's just personal taste. I've never encouraged them to " drink all your milk. " Some species will nurse other species. I've seen a dog nurse a kitten once whose mother had died. I think what separated the humans from the rest of the mammals is the lack of " weaning. " We just keep drinking milk forever, whereas most species stop when the offspring are old enough to eat something else. ~~ Lyn
