Guest guest
Ok all you vitamin and mineral gurus, I have begun to take calcium citrate in the liquid form. I also take an iron supplement. Somewhere in the back of my little head, I remember hearing that one of these affects the absorption of the other. Since I want to get the full benefit of taking both of these, I would like to know how far apart I need to space them and any other words of wisdom! Guest guest
They should be taken at least 2 hours apart. Only take 1000mg Vit C with your iron, and take it preferably with water. Don't take it with juice, milk, etc. Iron is very particular. I take mine in the middle of the night, when I get up to use the bathroom. That way I know it is all alone (with the vit C) in my system, to do it's job properly. Guest guest
I do know, when I take Cold-Eeze (zinc), it says on the package not to have any citrus within 1/2 hour of taking it. I just never heard that with iron, and it doesn't say anything on the paperwork from the pharmacy, but of course that doesn't mean it's not so. in NJ ************************************ In a message dated 4/26/2003 1:41:29 PM Eastern Daylight Time, shihtzumom@... writes: > Well, I heard specifically pineapple and citrus juices, but I avoid all > juices because I am not sure what the whole list of ones that don't go with > iron are. Guest guest
Iron wants vit C. Most pharmacists will tell you to take it with OJ, as do the mfrs. I prefer a vit C pill. No sugar at all, no calories. Thanks, Vitalady, Inc. Guest guest
Well, that's good, because I take it with a chewable C, but being a lousy pill-swallower, I find it easier to get it down with a liquid that has some " body, " so just 1 swig of OJ...not too much sugar damage. in NJ *********************** > Iron wants vit C.
