Guest guest
I know you said " privately " but this is too much fun! 1. Are you male or female? Male 2. Starting Weight? 315 3. Weight now? 205 4. Surgery type and date? Open, proximal RNY April 1998 5. Amount bypassed if you know? Unknown 6. Length of common channel if you know? Unknown 7. Pros of your surgery? Relief from lifetime misery of obesity and the guilt and self-recrimination that went with it. 8. Cons of your surgery? Smelly bathrooms, helped lately very much by Devrom, I *hate* taking vitamins, booze easily makes me feel bad. 9. greatest joy? Being regarded as good-looking for 50, being able to do all the things I can do physically, not having to worry about every bite of food that I eat or having to question it. 10. greatest challenge? Getting over the cosmetic results of weight loss and 1) repairing my body as much as I could and 2) accepting the rest of it. Enjoying this moment. 11. Your age at time of surgery? 45 12. Any advice to others? (about 5 lines if you can manage) Eat animal protein first at every meal. Don't drink while you eat, or for an hour or two afterward. Find something physical you love to do, so that you'll actually do it. 13. Your surgery doc? if you care to say Dr. Selinkoff, San , TX 14. Your regimen of food and exercise? (Please summarize in a short paragraph; aprx calories per day estimate/and minutes of what kind of exercise/and how often?) Animal protein first, along with one veggie, usually fibrous and not starchy, but not always. A cookie or small sweet virtually every afternoon. Snack on pistachio nuts lately. A carb meal, like a half-bagel with lox or peanut butter is a " treat " meal. Workout with trainer 3X weekly, row several times a week, and do yoga. Try to do protein shakes since I work out. Notice I'm not quite as hungry when I do. 15. Which of these adjuncts do you use? (hypnosis, prayer, affirmations, journal keeping, therapy, OA, meddies, etc.) Been in therapy for decades, but not specifically for weight maintenance. 16. What is your daily vitamin and mineral supplementation? It is a pain in my a#% in Austin RNY April 1998
