Guest guest
I need some advice / knowledge from those of you nursing types who can give me a clue. Sometime between now and May 15th is my annual checkup at Planned Parenthood. I am 48 and don't have any worries about getting pregnant (you don't get that if you aren't exposed to the germ! LOL!) but I have been on the depo shot for a year. I'm at that stage where periods are EXTREME in their severity, and irregular, but the shot keeps them at bay. The pill helps also, by keeping periods to at least a livable level. What I want to know is, should I get off the depo, as I have read that it can be associated with weight gain more than the pill, and if I do go back to the pill, is there a lower dose pill I could be taking (was formerly on Ortho Tricyclen). My whole goal is to keep things where I can live with them, not birth control -- it's a non-issue. But this year's gain has been considerably worse than the year before, when I was on the pill, and I have to wonder if there is a connection. I'm eating less but losing slower. Any insights? Preferences? Recommendations with associated " I am not a doctor " caveat? Thanks in advance ~~ Lyn
