1. Are you male or female? Female

2. Starting Weight? 333.5

3. Weight now? 133.5

4. Surgery type and date? Lap RNY Sept 2001

5. Amount bypassed if you know? not sure

6. Length of common channel if you know? not sure

7. Pros of your surgery? Getting my life back after losing 200

pounds! No complications except for development of gall stones and

having to subsequently have my gall bladder removed (this month).

8. Cons of your surgery? Going broke buying new clothes! And, I'm

embarrassed to say, very stinky gas.

9. greatest joy – Having my son be proud of his mom and knowing I

will be around to raise him to adulthood.

10. greatest challenge – not succumbing to old habits such as eating

too many carbs.

11. Your age at time of surgery? 46

12. Any advice to others? (about 5 lines if you can manage) – Become

your own health advocate. It took many months, 6 different doctors

and 2 ER visits before they finally realized I was having classic

gall bladder attack symptoms. I could have saved myself a lot of

pain had I been familiar with the symptoms, especially knowing that

gastric bypass patients are subject to developing problems with

their gall bladder.

13. Your surgery doc? Dr. Wittgrove; Alvarado Clinic in San Diego

14. Your regimen of food and exercise? I don't have any rigid

routines but probably eat around 1200 calories per day with much of

it being protein. I don't exercise but walk around a lot.

15. Which of these adjuncts do you use? (hypnosis, prayer,

affirmations, journal keeping, therapy, OA, meddies, etc.). I

rely on prayer. I also keep my WLS web site up-to-date which has

been very rewarding and therapeutic for me. I get e-mails from many

hurting people who are just starting to look into WLS and I love to

help them.

16. What is your daily vitamin and mineral supplementation? I take

Vista Vitamins twice per day; calcium citrate daily; sub-lingual B a

few times per week

in Washington

Lap RNY Sept 2001
