Guest guest
>> I thought that if I upped the carbs for fuel and the calories, I would not have a repeat of the same thing. Well, this time, it was the same thing. After pitching for about 50 minutes, I suddenly got very weak. It's the carbs for fuel -- in the case of WLS folks, this is a bad thing. Carbs will give you quick fuel and spike your insulin, then crash you hard when all the " fuel " is used up. Next time, go for a protein shake right before you start to pitch, keep drinking the water, and at some point between innings, if you start to feel down, have another protein shake. Don't worry about the calorie intake of the protein shakes -- you're using them us as exactly what you need -- fuel. ~~ Lyn G

Guest guest
Actually, a combination of carbs and prtein are best when feeling light headed from low blood sugar. You need the quick energy from the carbs and the protein will help keep things leveled out. I usually use peanut butter and crackers or cheese and crackers.
