Guest guest
That worries me, I am 9 weeks post op today and I have only about 35%-40% feeling in my lip and chin. No feeling in my upper teeth/gums. I agree, the hyper-sensitivity in my lower teeth is not pleasant. I had Leforte I w/ Bilateral Mandibular Osteotomy (upper/lower) What did you have? Maybe thats the difference. > > > > > > hi... > > > I recall some talk about mths after surg this hightened tooth/gum > > > sensitivity. > > > I am sooo there and didn't realize it. > > > > > > I have been using the extra strength mouth wash watered down from > > the > > > OS to water pick and then dip my brush in and brush... > > > however, I picked up the toothpaste the otehr day and when the > > mint > > > hit my teeth/gums it was like someone took dry ice to them- > > > OOOOOOOOOOOOOOUCH! > > > so I rinsed as quick as I could and the severe pain stopped, then > > > next time I tried sensidone or waht not...SAME THING! > > > > > > > > > so back to mouth wash only to brush with but I wondered, how long > > > does this last and why does this happen? > > > (ouch) > > > > > > Please share some scoop with me...thanks, JO

Guest guest
no worries, I have a very fast system, metabolism and what not so I tend to be faster than most, even with the anesthia hair loss-happens to me more like 2 mths than 4 or so... So I tend to think you sound on track for a " normal " person...I think I thought I had all my feeling up top, but am learning that it wasn't bec all I can think of is that is how it sorta feels like waking up face (so to speak)...it feels more like I drank HOT tea and burned myself and now when I close my mouth and breath in through my nose even, I feel it and it hurts. Last nt it was so pronounced I dug into the vic I had been given- tried a half, and then the other half and it didn't work...NG (not good) So tonight I have to talk with my os about this, and the clenching at night (the muscle rel he gave me KICK my butt for more than 12 hrs.--not practical) *oh and I had upper--a lot, and genio--no bilaterals...no outside screws...all inside and titanium plates. I will certainly let you know waht I hear!
