Nate, although i have issues post surgery, the benefits outweigh the

concerns. you can see on my recent last few posts (albertiway,

oldie, chin, symmetry) and look at pictures in the photo section as

to what i am talking about. bottom line, you must discuss these

concerns with your surgeon and this forum helped me to get a few

more ideas than i had originally had on my own, to do that. katie

Nate, welcome-the most important part of this journey is to select the

best OS you can find. That will help to minimize complications. Try if

you can to find someone who performs at least one a week. There is as

much art as science in this procedure and you can't teach the art

part. While my OS was unable to get my upper right after two tries I

would(and will) do it again just with a different doc. good luck/eric

NATE,

I have no regrets except for having this done sooner. I finally feel

confident about myself. Before surgery I couldn't close my lips and

had a very gummy smile and overbite. There are some side effects

from surgery, but the outcome far outweighs the negatives. The

swelling sucks, but doesn't last that long. Then there is the

numbness, which has been the most annoying for me. That on the the

other hand is slowly diminshing. I am almost 5 weeks from upper jaw

surgery and can feel my lip, nose and cheeks except it feels weird

when I touch. I think I have about 90% feeling back in my face. The

palate and teeth are still completly numb, but I know that will take

longer. Good Luck.

Hello , in your last posted message, you mentioned that you do

have some issues post-surgery. You said these problems, however,

are outweighed by the benefits that you experienced from having the

surgery. I'm just wondering if you can tell me what some of these

post-surgical problems are(were)...numbness, pain, etc. Thanks.
