Hi Pam,

I know that we are not to eat a lot of starche but rice is a Big staple in

this end of the country. I have eaten rice 2 or 3 times a week for the last 10

months and never had a problem until now.

first dumping episode

I experienced my first real episode of dumping and I am here to tell you I

don't wont to ever experience anything like that again. The bad thing was

that

I did not even realize that I was eating anything wrong. I ate a little

chek

party mix {cereal kind} and chips at granddaughter's birthday, I could

expected something if I had eaten birthday cake but I didn't. Later ate

some chicken

and rice and I guess it was just too many carbohydrates. In just a couple

hours got very sick, I almost pasted out and then I had to run to the

bathroom

with diahrea. That was the sickest feeling I have ever felt. I will be

very

careful that I don't do that again. Take it from me you don't wont to

dump. I

am almost 11 months post of and this is my first time.

Pam I think it depends on your doctor. I am allowed rice. But as with all

carbs in very small amounts. Like a tablespoon.

Re: first dumping episode

We aren't supposed to have rice.

I too was told not to eat rice. Rice does expand in the stomach...why do

you think they don't allow it to be thrown at weddings anymore? Cause

when the birds eat it, it expands and blows them up (poor buggers). I

don't want to take that kind of chance especially with a high

starch/carb food....just my own humble opinion.

Rice does not expand in your stomach unless it is raw. That is why the birds

die is because the raw rice absorbs moisture and then it swells up, but what

we eat is cooked and therefore it does not swell when eaten. Rice was

included in my soft food stage.
