Guest guest
Hi Pam, I know that we are not to eat a lot of starche but rice is a Big staple in this end of the country. I have eaten rice 2 or 3 times a week for the last 10 months and never had a problem until now. A. B. LAP RNY 3/22/03 Dr. Steve Weinstein, MD. Guest guest
My Doctor told me that rice will expand in your stomach as water hits it and we should never have it or we could have problems. Pam

Guest guest
I only dumped once and it was from eating a rather small slice of watermelon. I thought I was going to die. Never ever again!!!! Candi first dumping episode I experienced my first real episode of dumping and I am here to tell you I don't wont to ever experience anything like that again. The bad thing was that I did not even realize that I was eating anything wrong. Guest guest
Pam I think it depends on your doctor. I am allowed rice. But as with all carbs in very small amounts. Like a tablespoon. Guest guest
I too was told not to eat rice. Rice does expand in the stomach...why do you think they don't allow it to be thrown at weddings anymore? Cause when the birds eat it, it expands and blows them up (poor buggers). I don't want to take that kind of chance especially with a high starch/carb food....just my own humble opinion. T. Guest guest
Rice does not expand in your stomach unless it is raw. That is why the birds die is because the raw rice absorbs moisture and then it swells up, but what we eat is cooked and therefore it does not swell when eaten. Rice was included in my soft food stage. A. B. LAP RNY 3/22/03 Dr. Steve Weinstein, MD.
