Our son's Lab thinks he is still a lap dog.

I guess he will always be a pup. And he is nearly three years

old.

As for me, I prefer the small ones since my lap seems to be disappearing.

Hi Dodie

Actually, sorry to say that this boy went to the vet yesterday, and

we're going to have to return him to the breeder's. He is sweet and

learns fast, but there is no way we're going to be able to pay for

his bills, plus he has genetic mutations which make him unbreedable.

We got him with the intent of breeding him to my daughter's dane

which she is due to get in a few weeks.

Turns out he has a testicle which did not drop into place (far from

it). He also has a hernia. Plus, he has an eye problem (which we

knew about) which appears to be genetic rather than an injury caused

by his mother stepping on it (which was the story told to us). Too

many strikes. If he was breedable, we'd keep him - long-term

investment type - but... sorry to say - we're that shallow. Just

can't afford to be too emotional when funds are as tight as they are -

and promising to be more so.

Plus, he was suppose to be mine - but I must admit, I'm weaker than I

thought. I can't handle him - and he's only 32 pounds right now

(just 12 weeks old). Guess my daughter will have to hire a stud

service, and I'll have to stick with a smaller breed. My favorite

has always been Boston Terriers - and perhaps I'll get another one of

those. Full grown he/she would only likely be 25 pounds max. That's

probably more my size. I will say though - I haven't been cold at

night with him in bed with me (though no one in the family thinks

he'll fit in my bed with me when full-grown - as I have a twin-sized

hospital bed :-)

All for now - Pablito

Actually Dodie...

I'm thinking about skipping the whole puppy phase - and going for an

adult no one wants, who won't have to be let out at the wee hours of

the morning.

When I join the ranks of the unemployed, I intend to start eating my

meal at noon - and that way I'll be able to sleep at normal hours (as

I should be done vomiting by 9 or so - still going strong now from a

midnight feeding :-)

Anyway, wanted to clarify...

Oh yeah... It is good to be home. VERY GOOD.
