Guest guest
Ceep and others.... I can't read on a treadmill because I can't see the damned book from that distance, no matter which glasses I have on. The only way I can survive doing any kind of exercise is with a walkman(discman) with a fairly fast rhythm to it ( Simon's Graceland or Rhythm of the Saints, U2's Tree are some of my favorites) The music makes me smile and it's hard to hate something when you are smiling. I'm currently jogging and look like a serious psycho, because I SILENTLY sing along, mouthing the words, to help me keep myself at a pace so that I can last 40 minutes. However, one of the wonderful things about being 48 and having lost over 200 pounds...you don't care what other people thing!!!! So freeing!! But seriously, if the batteries on my walkman run out, I can only continue exercising for about 5-10 minutes, cuz I get too bored. And I certainly don't consider myself the MTV generation.. a K

Guest guest
My favorite thing to do on the treadmill (or elliptical trainer) is to listen to books on tape on my Walkman. I check the tapes out from my local library and I have listened to many, many, many books this way. It's really enjoyable for me. I like having someone read to me and I find that it takes much more concentration than music does, so it's more distracting from the monotony of the exercise.
