Guest guest
I was about 17 days post op from upper/lower/genio before I was given the okay from my doctor to add soft, non-chew foods to my diet. Prior to that, it was all liquid. Ask your OS what the time frame is for being able to expand your dietary options. He, along with your ortho, will probably change the configuration of the elastics over the coming weeks. I'm not expecting any new additions to my diet for another 3 1/2 weeks as chewing is a total no-no for me until my bones have been deemed healed. Hang in there! It will get better! > > Hello Everyone, > > I had moved lower jaw forward on October 19. it's been 5 days ope > and my mouth is still shut with elastic bands. Guest guest
This really all depends on what your surgeon tells you. I was only tightly banded shut for about 24 hours so by the time I got home from the hospital I was able to eat no chew foods (pudding, soup, etc.). Try drinking boost or ensure, or some type of meal replacement drink. Make sure to drink plenty of liquids (juices, gatorade, anything to stay hydrated), too. Guest guest
You should ask your OS at your next appointment. At my one week I was given the ok to replace the bands daily at brushing and to remove them to eat. I started on smoothies for a few days and then went to puddings, cream of wheat, mashed potatoes, top ramen, pork and beans, chile, pastas and lots of creamed soups etc. soon thereafter. doc said light pressure on the teeth was ok for me and i had upper and lower done. at 6 weeks he gave me the ok to eat whatever i could 'handle'. Hopefully he'll give you the ok too! good luck/eric > > Hello Everyone, > > I had moved lower jaw forward on October 19. it's been 5 days ope > and my mouth is still shut with elastic bands.
