No Cheyne Stokes is not all that common, though just from watching this list is more common with MSA patient than normal. I suspect this results from problems with the autonomic nervous system. But let's face it, breathing is a very basic function of the body, so it is 'practised' more frequently than something like swallowing. Also, the irrationallity you describe is rather unusual as well. But again, there have been some caregivers that express frustration and concern about this. I know Sally in Kansas had this problem with her father-in-law. One note. Please don't think you could have done anything differently. You did the best you could... which is to treat the symptoms, which is exactly how an MSA patient is treated. You provided your love, time and energy. That is most important. You did well.
