Guest guest
Matt- Well for one, if your local oral surgeon stopped getting referrals, you might want a second opinion. But if you are really uncomfortable with your overbite and your situation, I'd say go for it. I used to have ( < It feels good to say that!) a bad overbite as well, and I am 110% pleased with the outcome of the surgery. I can actually eat things now without making a mess, and I don't get headaches and have jaw pain. I don't know how your situation is, but I'd recommend this surgery! Guest guest
1.5mm doesnt sound like a lot. Are you happy with you teeth in other ways? If so, you might just want to leave them a couple years and see what happens. I know doctors insist your jaws and teeth are finished by 20 or so. But mine were still growing and moving in my twenties. Even if you figure 98% of people are finished growing, that still leaves a heck of a lot of people. And some of those will develop problems from it. My situation: I had no overbite when I got braces on as a teen, just minor uneveness and crookedness. By the time the braces came off I had a small overbite. Then my braces came off and my top jaw and teeth went zoom zoom zoom. During the next 5 years I developed a big overbite and big overjet. You just dont know what will happen. > I went to see my local oral surgeon about the a dark spot at the > root of one of my teeh in an xray (turned out to be nothing), but > while I was there I asked him if he did jaw surgery, he said not > anymore, because he stopped getting referrals, but I asked his > opinion on whether I should have it done.
