Hi Hilary,

Sorry that you " feel like a baby " ! Hang in there . . . it will get better!!!

I know you said you don't like " sweet things " , but you may want to try milk

(8-12oz), Ovaltine, one banana, 1-2 tablespoons of peanut butter, all blended

together. Good luck to you. Hope all goes well!

Hi Hilary!

I had my surgery in December 2003. I was back to work 12 days later,

still banded shut, but I could talk enough to function.

I remember being afraid to answer the phone at home 3 days after

surgery since I didn't think anyone would understand me, but

apparently they did. I was lucky though. If you need 2 months, by

all means, take 2 months. You will feel a lot better in the next

week or so though. I can relate all too well to 'feeling like a

baby' That too will past.

As for good liquid things - I lived on smoothies (banana and

strawberries are great) and chicken broth. Oh, and I hardly ever

drank them before - but I got addicted to ice cream floats during my

recovery. I wanted ice cream so bad, but I couldn't get it into my

mouth unless it was melted and then it was too sweet and made me

cough, so I put some ice cream in a glass of 7-UP (which I had

because it helped my upset stomach)

Happy recovery!

Hilary, I ate cream of wheat EVERY DAY. it is not sweet at all,

you could add some honey if you'd like. to me it was warm and

soothing as well as being nutritous. I also ate a shake that made

with the following: a protien powder, milk, stoneyfield yogurt, a

little honey, peanut butter and flax seed. YUM YUM YUM. i still have

at least 4 of those a week! Best of luck. it DOES get better.

If you hate sweet things, try beans, get a can of pinto beans, add

cheese, sour cream, and thin with chicken or beef broth in the

blender. That has been a favorite of many here. I loved it. Beans

have a lot of iron and protein. You can make cream soup out of almost

anything, try using heavy cream instead of milk. It has more

calories, then thin it down with a little broth. I put meatloaf and

mashed potatoes in the blender and thinned it with brown gravy, I

think tht was day 5.

Hope some of these ideas help.
