Guest guest
Does anyone know if there is any truth to using muscles more frequently adding to the regneration of nerve issue? i know the " use it or lose it " sort of applies here, but i am somewhat down the road a bit and the numbness in my left tongue is still pretty strong. i bite my tongue much less regularly, but still do and it really bothers me. i am almost 5 months post op. at times i find myself really moving my lips, cheeks and tongue around, (when alone!) in hopes that maybe it is doing something to help repair. Guest guest
My OS told me to " stimulate the nerve area " . So, occasionally I will put a heating pad on it, or massage the area, and/or do facial excercises. All these things increase blood supply around the nerve, which helps in healing. I'm 2 1/2 months post op with remaining numbness on the right side of lip and chin, and with slowly returning feeling on the left side of lip and chin. Hang in there.
