Guest guest
Has anyone had experience with both of these?. 's doctor changed her from Sinamet to Requip and it is really hard to tell what changes are due to the change and what is just the progression of the MSA. Guest guest
They work in different manners. Sinemet replaces the dopamine in your brain by changing levodopa to dopamine once it gets into the brain (hopefully). Requip helps dopamine last longer and encourages the brain to make more of it's own dopamine. They tend to have somewhat the same side effects although Requip (I think) has been linked to sudden falling asleep so you should not drive while on it (if I remember correctly). Neither works for everyone. I would talk to my doctor about changes since the change in meds, it could be important. IF the changes include more rigidity (difficulty in movement), I would definitely talk to the doctor as the Requip may not be helping as much as the Sinemet. Write and tell us what changes and what symptoms has and maybe we can suggest things that have helped others. Guest guest
Sam took both requip and sinemet at the same time, and then the requip was stopped. I didn't notice any difference at all. He continues with sinemet--cr50 but only 1/2 tablet three times a day. I honestly don't know if he is the same on it as he would be without it--maybe the disease would have progressed faster than it has, but who knows. I do know that when I occasionally forget noon or evening medicines I don't notice any difference. Perhaps one missed dose doesn't make any difference. There may be some residual effect of the drugs. I guess .I am not very helpful. I think we all do the best we can. Best wishes Lou Reynolds01:38 AM 10/31/2002 +0000, you wrote: >Has anyone had experience with both of these?.
