Guest guest
Hi everyone. This may be a stupid question, but I'm not sure. I think my rubberbands from my surgery are moving my teeth. Is that normal? Should it be happening? My bottom teeth feel as if they are being pulled forward. Is this something I should call my surgeon about, or is it to be expected? Thanks for any input! Guest guest
No that is totally normal. The bands not only stabilize your healing bones, but they are also suppose to further correct your bite and allow your teeth to settle into their new position. I had upper and lower surgery done to correct an open bite, and when I was unwired after 2 weeks, my teeth still weren't touching. After a week of wearing bands, my teeth had rapidly come together. So don't worry! > Hi everyone. This may be a stupid question, but I'm not sure. I > think my rubberbands from my surgery are moving my teeth. Is that > normal? Should it be happening? Guest guest
Hi, Kim! I had that sensation, too, especially at night. It felt like my front teeth were pulsating! I asked the surgeon about it, and he said that it was perfectly normal. He also said that research shows that teeth move easiest right after surgery. I had some " square " bands on my back teeth to bring them closer together, and it worked like a charm after a couple of weeks. I wouldn't worry, but ask him/her if it will make you feel better. It helped me. Carleen
