Guest guest
See that is what I wonder, do they need speech therapy or the right overall therapy. is 3. So far all his speech therapy only worked when the diet and fish oil kicked in. He needs therapy but can I get him to the right place with continued dietary stuff and NACD or do I need a speech therapist? We are doing prompt 2 x per month just in case as funds are limited but mostly focusing on NACD and TLP. If we need more I'll find the $. I am just not sure we will. Time will tell. > > > > I also meant to say -- that for a child that DOES have Apraxia, > without > > speech intervention, in all seriousness, you will NOT get a child > that will be a > > fluent speaker. Guest guest
.....Mark had well over 9 years of speech therapy. So, I absolutely recommend it... in particular, oral motor therapy is what really helped Mark after many years of lousy therapy. Our kids need a lot of oral motor work, imo. Once he got good oral motor therapy, all of his speech issues cleared right up. We had lots of muscle tone and motor planning issues. Janice [sPAM][ ] Re: How does a speech therapist help with apraxia Are you sure, look at Janice's son. > > I also meant to say -- that for a child that DOES have Apraxia, without > speech intervention, in all seriousness, you will NOT get a child that will be a > fluent speaker. Guest guest
I've read a lot of good posts on those Baby Babble DVDs. They really work, huh? (We should all buy shares in some of this stuff!) Janice [sPAM][ ] Re: How does a speech therapist help with apraxia I will have to do some more checking around. We've been through 4 therapists, and no results. The first one strapped him to a chair and it was so traumatic for him that ever since then he refuses to sit in a chair anywhere. ( dinner, restaurants, ABA, preschool, etc.) He used to do so well sitting at ABA and restaurants and all of that, until we took him to her.) So I guess I'll start back at square one. Looking around some more. It doesn't help that our insurance doesn't cover any of it, and we are nearly broke. > > E mail me if you have any other questions.
