Guest guest
My expander is out for about a week now, so I can't really judge, but I do know that they usually overcorrect at first (so they expand more than really necessary). Then, with the expander still in place, they push the teeth in their correct position with braces. I had metal bands on 2 molars the expander was connected to, so those molars will still out of place when the expander came out. The braces are putting those back in line now. I would talk to the ortho and find out from him if he thinks your teeth are still in line (maybe what you're experiencing is a normal bite!), with just braces he should be able to correct if necessary (I think). Guest guest
Thanks Nathalie, I will definitely be bringing this up with my ortho during my next visit. I do realize that they overcompensate with the expander to prepare for a bit of relapse, but someting just doesn't feel right. My front teeth still have a bit of 'give' to them, which I'm guessing means that the new bone is still a bit soft. Do your front teeth move at all if you put any pressure on them? I had my surgery in February and would think things would be more solid by now. I sure hope my ortho will tell me things are just fine and to quit worrying! > > For those of you who had SARPE, did you relapse much after the > > expander came out? > > > > I wore my expander for the full 6 months, it's been out for nearly > 2 > > months now and I feel as if I've relapsed quite a bit. Guest guest
Hey, yes my front teeth move, and I'm glad because I still have a tiny big of space between them that needs to close!
