, my names Katerina (known as KAt_UK on the boards). I had

upper and lower jaw surgery just over 2 years ago now. However i

had my wisdom teeth removed 3 months prior to this. In my

experience i was far more swollen and bruised when i had my wisdom

teeth out, than i was when i had the initial jaw surgery. The

swelling from the jaw surgery seemed to subside pretty quickly, as

you can see in my photos in site 1 under katerina. i also didnt

have much bruising. My surgeon mentioned that alot of his patients

had said that having the wisdom teeth out was far worse than the jaw

surgery itself. Perhaps havng them taken out at the same time of

your jaw surgery accounts for this extra degree of swelling. Ive

noticed people on the boards mentioning the use of ice packs, this

may help bring the swelling down.

As for weight loss i lost a stone in the 1st 5 days post op. Im not

sure of the average weight loss, i guess it depends on your weight

prior to the surgery. however my surgeon put my in touch with a

nutrisionist (i think thats what she was called), as i went down to

just under 7 1/2 stone in five days, he was concerned. I was told

to go on a 'full fat' diet so to speak. Though trying to liquify

that was quite fun. i had alot of foods high in protein and fat, i

generally had what the rest of the family ate at meal times only

liquid. i found that beans on toast was quite nice, when you can

handle more of a mushy texture, not very good for going up a straw

though. I hope this helps. im sure the board will too.

Hope you feel better soon, those first week or so are the worst,

hang in there it does get better.

Kind regards,

Kat_UK
