Guest guest
I am 4 weeks post op. I have been wired shut this whole time. Today I will have the current rubber bands removed (my jaw is wired tight) and will have new rubber bands put on after my bite is checked. The new bands will be placed on looser allowing some movement. In 2 weeks, it all comes off. I have 3 questions: 1. For those that have been wired, how sore are your jaw/joint muscles when opening after you have everything removed? 2. Are the exercises easy or difficult and how long before you notice results from the pain (ok that is a two parter question) 3. They gave me a choice of being put under or to have a series of locals for the brace and wire removal. After being told the numbing was no different than being numb for general dental work, I opted for the locals. Was the removal easy or painful for you and how long after the numbness wore off were you in pain (I guess another two parter). Thanks.
