Guest guest
katie, tmj can be both caused or cured by the surgery. with lower advancement the muscles fight back and pull the condyles into the fossa causing pain. it can ease with time as the muscles stretch back out. the banding can help to hold the condyles out of the fossa while the muscles readjust but muscle memory is a potent force. you might want to avoid the head butting thing cuz i don't think thats good on a healthy jaw! the doc will probably do a radiograph on you to check to see if the cartiledge that separates the condyle and fossa is pinched or dislocated. I haven't a clue what they do to fix it but i've heard it's not that big a deal. good luck/eric > Hi Guys, > > I tried to speak with my OS today as the once or twice a day pains i > have been getting are still constant. Guest guest
thanks , Radiograph, that is what i think he said. The headbutting always comes as a surprise, of course, hard to keep a 12 month old away from your head and face and the pain that is associated with the occurance..... OUCH. I think Marsha had a problem in this area (slippage), but i could be wrong. As a teacher, i can't imagine anything being done on me that would be related to another (even minor) surgery, as my life depends on paycheck, which depends on talking! We'll see next week. > > Hi Guys, > > > > I tried to speak with my OS today as the once or twice a day pains i > > have been getting are still constant. Guest guest
Kate, This sounds an awful lot like what I went through, I posted a number of things under the subject Joint Pain if you want to do a search. I had a dislocated cartiladge which I managed to get back in place through phisical therapy and exercise with a Therabite. I was only able to open 12 mm, I am at about 32 now. It was extraordinarily painful so I hope you do not have to go through this. keep us posted.
