Guest guest
Hello. I am new to this group. I have gained a lot of knowledge from reading the other posts. I have lower jaw surgery scheduled for December 30, and I was wondering how quickly everyone got back to work/school. I have classes that start up in January. I am wondering if I will be ready. I asked my OS on Monday about this and he said that I should be fine. Thanks,

(but still have the feeling I didn't do anything, haha). Don't worry about the surgery and hang in there. If you're like me, you'll wimp out when you're going to be taken to the OR, drop a few tears saying bye bye to your mom... then... poof... all over. Here I am after 6 weeks, still very numb but happy! Bebert

Guest guest
I was back to work within 8 days (counting the weekend), but I was allowed to leave a little early the first 2 days back. My assumption is it will vary from person to person. I was focused on bed rest, the pain meds, making sure I got plenty of fluids and nutrients (blended soup and Boost 2-3 times per day) and use Ice on my face the first 48 hours and heat 2-3 days following (helped me with some pain, but mostly with the swelling). I was (and still am) wired shut so I did not have to move my jaws too much. Talking would aggrevate the discomfort and jaw joint pain and that is where the heat really came in handy. > > > > Hello.
