Yes, my chin was reduced and moved forward, in combination with

upper/lower. I don't remember feeling anything at all, as a matter of

fact, it felt so numb that I didn't even want to touch it, for a long

time.

If it were me, I'd steer clear of feeling things. You have healing

going on in there!

When I had a post-op xray done, my surgeon told me that I didn't have

plates or screws, I have six stainless steel wires holding mine

together (his preference, he uses plates & screws everywhere else).

After two years post-op, I can't feel any of it, and I really don't

want to either!

Maybe it's a good question for your surgeon, next time you see

him/her.

I had the same thing. My chin was moved forward 8mm and I had a hard

spot on one side. doctor thought it was a blood clot and to not worry

about it. I didn't and it went away in a few weeks. It felt like a bb

was stuck in there. looking at the after xray the plate looks kinda

like a butterfly bandage about an inch wide with 3 screws on top and 2

on bottom. nowhere near where the hard spot was, it was further to the

side. I can't really feel the plate or screws. hope this helps. eric

thanks for the replies : ) yeah, i'm *trying* not to touch it. i

just feel i need to keep an eye on it because my surgeon said i

didn't need to come back for THREE MONTHS!! he didn't even feel my

chin. he just looked at the incision inside my mouth and looked at

me from one side and said i was good to go. no post-op x-rays,

nothing. i'm one who needs a little reassurance that everything is

in place, so i'm a little freaked at the moment. i do see my ortho

next week, and she's good about answering all my questions, so maybe

she can take a look at it.

I also had a slight chin reduction: it was moved down and to the

back, so not quite what you had. My surgeon explained to me that

they moved my right side slightly more down then my left side for

symmetry. On my right side I can feel a bit of a bump below my chin

(you can't see it). The bone still needs to fill up completely

between there. I don't think the bump will go away though, it makes

sense if they moved my chin to the back that I might feel a bit

of " chin " there. They used plates and screws with me. I am almost 10

weeks post-op and I still have some slight swelling along the right

side of my jawline. Ask your surgeon what he thinks!

I have a hard bump on the right side of my chin. It feels like bone

and I have been worried about it. Both my OS and Ortho keep telling

me that it will go away with time. Well it's been over 2 months and

it hasn't changed. Luckily you can't see it but I just felt that

for what I went through, that I should not have a bump.

I completely agree with what said. I will add this, i don;'t

feel anything in my chin as far as screws go, it is still very numb

after 8 weeks, but i have three distinct areas in my face where i

CAN feel screws. One up by my eye, two below my nose. the nose ones

don't bother me,the eye one still grosses me out. my surgeon said i

have " thin skin " . OH WELL. I suppose i wil get used to it, but i

don;t like it. i have had about 20 people feel it so far! wierd,

huh? Like susan said, i would not be poking around so early. Let

the healing take place, talk to your surgeon.

Hi there,

I had 2 genioplasties and have a hard spot/bone under my right

side...that is one of the things I would like to have removed...my

doctor says it is bone and I should leave it.

eek...that's kinda weird. but yeah...two weeks ago i had a

genioplasty along with my upper and lower jaw surgery. mine was also

to reduce my chin vertically and bring it forward. as of now...it's

still swollen and numb. i don't like touching it because it feels

weird and i'm just paranoid that my jaw and chin are just incredibly

fragile right now...and if i touch it too much...it'll mess it

up...haha. i'd imagine that your hard spot would just be

swelling...but if it were me...i'd definitely ask my OS. that kinda

thing would drive me up the wall until i knew the answer!
