Dr. Felicia Axelrod

President American Autonomic Society,

The research work carried out by members of the American Autonomic

Society is very valuable to the ones of us who deal daily, in our homes with

little assistance, with the rare neurological disorders, such as Multiple

System Atrophy. This ravaging disease has already taken my husband, but his

greatest desire was that his life and that of his death could in some

fashion help those who are to come after him.

The Vanderbilt program which sponsors the Shy-drager computer list is

very helpful to those who have access to computers. I appreciate the

research work that has gone on before us, but more is needed.

My sons and I encourage each of you to continue your work as quickly as

possible. Please do anything/everything in your power to reduce the numbers

of people who must suffer through the various disabilities created by this

illness.

If there are ways in which layman can be of help, please contact me. My

family and I would like to have directions as to how we can help the

professionals. My sons and I believe that there must be much more knowledge

and understanding by the general public of the disease and the disabilities

before you will be able to create the needed monies to fund research to slow

the progression of this illness. We will be happy to assist.

Respectfully,
