Guest guest
Faith, Wow! Your remind me of the show on TV...7th Heaven! I love that show and wish that I had more kids. I have a 16 yr old and he keeps me on my toes. And what a wonderful thing to adopt children with special needs. That really tells alot about the love and character that you have. Next, welcome to the group. You will find that everyone is so wonderful here and is willing to bend over backwards to help each other. You are on the right track to becoming healthier. It sounds like you have already decided that the surgery is for you. Find out all the information you can...the good and bad and that way you will not be surprised by anything! I had surgery 3 months ago and already I am alot healthier than I was. Yes, I had foot pain also. It would hurt so bad to get up in the mornings and just try to walk to the bathroom. Forget trying to walk for exercise. I can now walk without my feet screaming at me and they only feel fatigued when I have been on them all day long. I still have problems with my heels cracking but they are not splitting open anymore since I have lost 60 pounds. They use to split and bleed and would really be sore for weeks. In fact I wore high heels for the first time in years yesterday and I was amazed that I was able to wear them for as long as I did. The surgery has also helped my blood pressure, urinary incontinence, and my blood sugar is low now instead of being borderline diabetic. Not to mention the swelling of my ankles and feet is gone!! I have DJD in my knees but they do not hurt like they use to either. Good luck on your journey. Hope to see you on the losing side soon. God Bless Shelley D Fort , KY 9/25/03 - Open RYN 236/176/140 Not to mention my feet that KILL me when I get up in the morning. Did any one else have feet problems pre surgery? Did it resolve itself when you lost a lot of weight? I pray it does. I have had heel problems for many years and even remember them hurting when I was thinner but not like they do now! Guest guest
Faith, I, too, have horrible pain in the bottoms of my feet when I get up in the morning. I'm just now in the beginning stages of getting this surgery in order so that is one thing on my " I hope to improve after surgery " list! When I get out of bed, I just shuffle for the first couple of minutes and probably look like I'm 90+. It's mostly pain in the heels. I pray that goes away once I get this surgery!!! Good luck to you...you have quite a busy life! Jill Tx

Guest guest
Faith, what wonderful reasons for wanting to change your weight. You must be incredibly special to take one special needs children. You certainly have your hands full. Being overweight my feet always hurt. I blamed the Diabetes, but with only 35# lost, they hurt very little now. If you had feet problems when you were thinner, this may not fix the problem, but I certainly know that much of my pain was from swelling, which was gone a week after surgery. Also I had GERD, but haven't had a single problem since surgery, 6 weeks ago! Also tons of problems with periods, fertility, and carrying to full term (reading posts from here it sounds like many are healthier to carry a baby after losing the weight). I wonder how these related to overweight? I applaud your decision to make changes before your lab work shows up bad. Mine was blood pressure, cholesterol, triglycerides, blood sugar, kidney disease. I wish I'd had this surgery long before this all happened, but can't look back now....just look forward to much better, healthier times. Keep us posted as to your progress. Guest guest
welcome faith. thanx for the peek into your remarkable special life. i also HAD heel pain as a pre-op, it's gone, long gone. wtg on your search for a healthier life. hats off! & happy new year! lori h. > Hi. I just started receiving emails from this groups so if my " sketchy " info was already given i'm sorry. My name is Faith, I live in NY state and am a 34 married mother of 7! 13, 10, 9, 7, 4, 3, and 9 months on the 7th. The last 4 are Adopted! My 3 and 4 year olds were both born with a brain injury. They do not walk or get around by themselves so I have to carry them and they are " total' care children. They are one of the main reasons I have decided to do something to help myself be here for a long, long time if God wills. They are always going to need their mommy. > > I weigh 266 pds after a all time high of 276..I lost 36 pounds on Atkins and gained 30 of it back. of course you all know those stories..that is just my most recent one! I am tired of being fat, tired of being tired and I want to be able to sit on the floor with my kids again. I don't want them to have to defend their " fat " mom to the kids on the bus or at school and I want to fit in the auditorium chairs at concerts my kids participate in. But first and foremost, I want to be a healthy, attractive ME. I want to think of ME first for once and I want to do this just because I want to. I recently went to the drs and had my bloodwork done. My cholesterol, thyroid, CBC, blood sugar, blood pressure, etc.. where all perfect! However, I am over 135 pds overweight. I want to lose the weight while I am still " healthy " so I can stay that way. I do have Joint pain, GERD, infertility issues, and migraines and hopefully that is enough for my insurance. I look forward to getting to know you all. > > Faith
