Guest guest
I have been looking at postings on this site for a couple of months now. Trying to get an idea of what to expect. It has been a huge help. My surgery is scheduled for Oct 12. I am sooooo excited that day is almost here. I just found out that I will only need upper jaw surgery instead of both upper and lower. What a relief. My upper jaw will be moved up 8mm, that seemed like a lot to me. I do have quite a bit of lip imcompetence. I have never been able to close my lips for more than a few minutes. The oral surgeon said that after the surgery and all the swelling goes down and I am not happy with my chin (he said I might have a slight recession) that I can do genioplasty later. He also said that I will only be rubberbanded and not splinted, thank god. I have heard too many horror stories about the splints. Also I will only be on a liquid diet for one week and I can start eating soft foods. So I will be posting more the closer it gets.
