Rival makes an ice crusher that is about the size of an electric can opener

that does the trick for me and also saves the life of my blender. It does a

nice job of finely crushing ice cubes, and I add the ice to the blender

drinks. I've had my ice crusher and blender forever -- got the ice crusher

years ago when I used to make blended frozen drinks (pina coladas and

margaritas) as well as low-cal milkshakes (remember those Alba shakes?).

OK all, I am looking for a really good blender that will actually

chop up my ice in my protein drinks and make the drink a nice thick

milk shake like consistency. Also, I would like for it to last for

more then 6 months ( the blender that is). Any suggestions?

Vicki:

I have a Kitchen Aid blender and before that one a Hamilton Beach that

took quite a beating before I laid it to rest. I got the Hamilton Beach

one as a shower gift before we got married. We'll be married 15 years in

August. Just got the Kitchen Aid one a few months ago and works like a

champ.

Also, to get that nice thick milk shake consistency, I make skim milk

ice cubes and throw 2-3 in my shake while blending. (Don't look

!!!!) Also, the milk cubes seem to be less aggravating to the

blades on the blender. Comes out like a shake from Carvel, Friendly's,

or from whatever part of the country you're from that has a decent ice

cream chain.

Good luck.

chopping ice and other frozen ingredients. Ours is the Smoothie Pro 600. We
