I had open surgery . . . scar from breastbone to belly button. I spent 2 nights

in hospital, went home on the 3rd day. Got home Fri eve., spent weekend with

DH, he went to work on Monday . . . I stayed home alone. No problems. Went

back to work after 2 full weeks off. (Babysitting a 3 year old 2 days/week.)

I didn't do much for a couple of weeks, except sleep and walk, and sleep. Took

naps with the kid every afternoon. Very little housework, no cooking - only

nuked soup, and hot tea, etc.

My experience - YMMV.

did the majority of u guys have the open or the lap? How large is the

incision and is it vertical or horziontal. I have all ready been cut

open twice, just kinda wondered about the incision. Did most of u guys

have to have help the first week of sugery? This dr keeps his patients

in the hospital for 4-5 days depending on how well u do and it's a 3 hr

drive from the hospital to our home I'm not looking forward to that

trip lol. What foods are considered a no no especially the first couple

of months? Do dairy foods cause any problem? What are the steps

leading up to scheduling your surgery clue me in on what to expect?
