Guest guest
Tricia, There is a risk to every medical procedure. But the risk is very small and the benefits of this surgery far out weight the risk. The surgery has saved my life. I was a bigger risk for this surgery because of my age and medical condition. I am 59 years old and weighed almost 400 lb., I am in a wheelchair, I have heart problems, an aortic aneurysm, arthritis, fibromyalgia, chronic bronical asthma, very bad spinal stenosis and spinal deterioration, and I WAS a diabetic, and I HAD High blood pressure that was going to cause the aneurysm to rupture. I know longer have diabetes or high blood pressure. I am even able to get around some in the house now without my wheelchair. I was doomed without the surgery and now I have hope for a better life and more time with my family. I made the choice to take the chance and I went through it all with no problems. I have not been sick at all. Even though I weighed almost 400# I was still able to have a LAP. I was only in the hospital 2 days and as of this day I have lost 121 pounds. A. B.
