Guest guest
Yeah, yeah, I'm one of those people that got into a size 4/6 and believe me, it has its problems too. How do you get over feeling like a fake or a fraud, and at any moment someone is going to tell you to stop looking at those " little " clothes, and show me to the plus sizes. I somehow at times, don't feel like I deserve to wear these clothes. How weird is that? Regards~ Jacque Distal RNY, 5/30/00 Drs. Guest guest
Funny thing happened. I went into Chico's in the Mall. Their sizes are different. I asked the saleslady about equivalent to a 16. She said 3 but it wouldn't fit me. I said I am buying a gift for my SIL. (it's her 60th birthday). The woman said the clothes they sell wouldn't fit me. I left. When I wore a 30-32 no one ever sent me away from any store. Oh the shame, the shame, the shame. I laughed all the way to Macy's. Guest guest
Yup, same here. I feel like an imposter in the " normal " size department. I felt like even MORE of an imposter when I started moving on down the rack from the 16s, to the 14s, to the 12s, then the 10s (where I am now). I'm always waiting for someone to ask me if they can help me - and what size is the friend that I'm shopping for!!! Sometimes I'm convinced that everyone is looking at the fat girl holding the size 10 jeans and laughing. No, I don't hear voices in my head, see dead people, think the world is out to get me, I just think that everyone in the store is looking at me. lol. I'm happy to be where I am, thrilled actually. Guest guest
Hi Fay, That's horrible for a sales person to treat you that way. That being said, even though their size 3 is equivalent to a size 14, if you are a 16, you can still wear some of their size 3's. But of course, if you shop there, you may want to find a different Chico's rather than the one you were in! We have already won when we believe it in our hearts. Guest guest
On the other size of the " what size " coin...I'm laughing about this now, but it wasn't funny at the time... Last week, I had to go to a tailor's shop to order a jacket for and organization in which I've been elected as an officer. The gentleman who was assisting me asked what size I wear, and then stated, " 14? " Harrumph! I've been in a 10 for years now, and recently got down to an 8. I then politely asked him to fit me in a men's jacket, because they are cut longer (sleeves and length), and because I wanted mine to look the same as the guys. The darts in the front were exactly the same, only the buttons (right over left, as opposed to left over right), were different from the women's sizes. I kept my mouth shut about his mis-guessing my size, but at the time, it irritated me. I wanted to ask him, " Just how big do you think I am? " Instead, I just redirected him to what I really wanted. I guess WE can be mistaken about the size we wear, but we can darned sure get mad if someone else makes that same mistake!
Guest guest
What I find so funny is the sales ladies not understanding my happy breathless joy at buying size 12's. I went to Bloomingdale's last week to find a cocktail dress for a party coming up, grabbed a bunch of 12's off the rack, and they all fit! I found an adorable little black dress immediately...that would have never happened before. Then, on their clearance rack, I found this beautiful dress in a 10, and had to try it. It fit, snugly, but zipped up no problem. It was tightest around the boobs, but knowing my breast reduction is in the near future, and that it was reduced to $49.99, I had to buy it! Am I nuts or what? The only thing keeping me from going totally crazy shopping right now is that BR, and knowing my body will be changing again. But, summer's coming.... in NJ

Guest guest
OMG, Terry I thought I was the only one. If I hold a pair of size 6 or 8's up to my body to get an idea how it will look I swear I hear the women around me saying " Yeah right, get real lady " . KathyM > Yup, same here. I feel like an imposter in the " normal " size department. I > felt like even MORE of an imposter when I started moving on down the rack > from the 16s, to the 14s, to the 12s, then the 10s (where I am now).
