Guest guest
OMG, Terry I thought I was the only one. Guest guest
I just have to add my 2 cents on this. You voiced exactly what goes on in my head everytime I pick up the right size for me. I do feel like an imposter! What a good word for it. I think my body has finally settled into a size 8. My jeans are 10's. Everything looks so TINY! I bought a new bathing suit this week (family pool party at the local YMCA). I was wondering what the fitting room lady was thinking....with this fat lady trying on these teeny bathing suits....I wonder how long it takes for our heads to catch up with our bodies. Guest guest
the saleslady would have had trouble in Jrs, because she is smaller than a Jr size. In fact the sales lady I had at Dillards today said she can't shop at that store because she is a 2. I told her I was a 2 before I was born. Guest guest
This reminds me of being asked my weight the last time I went to get my driver's license renewed. I told the " nice " lady I had no idea, gee I hadn't weighed that morning. She guesstimated 300 lbs. I hadn't been 300 lbs in 3 years at that point but I certainly wasn't going to argue with her. Guest guest
, No kidding, I am right with you! I had to put back several clothes items yeaterday even though they fit great and were marked way, way down to about $6 a piece. I just don't need them! I'm so used to having things not fit and snapping up ANYTHING that was even close, it's hard not to buy everything in sight, especially when it is a designer name and so cheap! Choices, selection..what a concept! Vicki A. > What I find so funny is the sales ladies not understanding my happy > breathless joy at buying size 12's. Guest guest
This is so so wrong... I think sales people like that should be dragged right out of the store, forced into a Jr.'s department store and made to try on all the clothes cause they will look like absolute crap on them .... I was looking for linen pants and was shopping at the foofy mall in town saw the Chico's and went in. I browsed the sizes, totally annoyed that everything I picked up was either a 0, 1, 2 or 3! Who the hell were they catering to, the anorexic?? I did find a pair of pants I liked in a 3 (sometimes I wear a 4 if it's loose cut ) and tried them on.. I swam out of the fitting room holding the pants up by the waistband and queried the sales lady.. " what's the deal with the sizing here?! " She cracked up. I almost wish someone would start designing clothes for body types... " Apple " " Pear " " String Bean " and " Kumquat " (my config) Raar. Re: Re: What size am I? Hi Fay, That's horrible for a sales person to treat you that way. That being said, even though their size 3 is equivalent to a size 14, if you are a 16, you can still wear some of their size 3's. But of course, if you shop there, you may want to find a different Chico's rather than the one you were in! We have already won when we believe it in our hearts. Guest guest
You got it in a nutshell, Terry. Exactly my feelings. I'm really NOT a mental case either, or at least I don't think I am...others may disagree..heh heh. But I'll be so happy when my head catches up to my body. I refuse to have the reverse happen! This FRAUD feeling has got to go!! Regards~ Jacque Distal RNY, 5/30/00 Drs. Fox and Oh 310~127 Beginning BMI 50.0 Current BMI 20.4 Yup, same here. I feel like an imposter in the " normal " size department. I felt like even MORE of an imposter when I started moving on down the rack from the 16s, to the 14s, to the 12s, then the 10s (where I am now). I'm always waiting for someone to ask me if they can help me - and what size is the friend that I'm shopping for!!! Sometimes I'm convinced that everyone is looking at the fat girl holding the size 10 jeans and laughing. No, I don't hear voices in my head, see dead people, think the world is out to get me, I just think that everyone in the store is looking at me. lol. I'm happy to be where I am, thrilled actually. It's just my head that won't accept it.
