Hi Everyone:

Just a few questions that have been accumulating in my brain....

1. Has anyone found the better cold/flu medications for us to take?

What I found during this recent bout of nasty viral thingy that I had,

was that if I didn't take med. on a practically empty stomach and just

let it sit there with very little water, it didn't seem like it

worked/absorbed at all. I found this to be the case with anything I took

ie; Tylenol, Sudafed, etc. The best relief I got was from the hot liquid

Thera-Flu, maybe because it was a liquid?? I'm curious to know other's

experiences with taking these types of meds.

2. When I e-mailed a while back about my labs and the liver tests being

high, several people suggested taking milk thistle which I have been

doing. My question is, what exactly does this do? I mean what is it's

mode of operation to get the liver tests where they need to be?

3. This isn't a question, just a comment. Someone had written about

" feeling like a baby was kicking inside them " or something like that.

Just wanted to mention that there are times when I lay down on my back

and I can SEE and FEEL movement in my belly. VERY similar to when I was

pregnant. No pain but it is strange! If I didn't know better, I'd think

that there WAS a baby inside there! Does anyone else experience this??

4. Re; depression after WLS. I understand this as well. I guess I was

one of those people that thought WLS would cure this problem or at least

make a positive difference. That said, I DO feel that WLS has helped but

not purely because of the weight loss itself. Because of the confidence

I have now vs. before. I also have to say that having my breast

reduction has upped the confidence tremendously, in many ways even more

than the weight loss. We have had a large amount of snow this season in

Indy and last weekend my hubby was at work and I needed to go somewhere

with the car. The driveway was knee-deep in snow. I thought, " well,

I'll try this but I doubt I'm going to be able to make a dent in removing

all this snow " . Well, you can guess what happened......I shoveled the

entire thing (in 2 sessions) that morning. It felt great physically and

mentally that I was able to do that. Never underestimate what you are

capable of doing now!Because if you do, you will miss out on

opportunities to feel really really proud of yourself, which in turn

knocks the depression monster on it's butt. It takes practice....the

more you try things, the more your confidence increases. The absolute

worst thing for me is to lay around the house, watching TV, etc. Life is

short and I want to " play " as much as possible. This is IT. I have a

saying on my fridge that's been up there since before WLS. It says, " You

have so much more to offer the world than what you've already

accomplished. " That helped me before wls and it helps me now.

*Phew* that was long!

I have experienced the same sensation, but thought it was just a nomaly due

to the gastric bypass surgery. That was interesting what your surgeon told

you Terry... and it makes perfect sense to me.. not that I know much medical

stuff yet.. planning to go to school to become a nurse this fall.

Hugs,

I've been experiencing this since a couple of months post-op. When I asked

my surgeon about it, he said that it's the food moving through my transverse

colon (I think that's the part - the piece that goes across the front on

top, right below the diaphragm). He said that not everyone feel this

because not everyone's intestines are put back in exactly the same, but for

some people, this piece of intestine gets pushed to the front more or

something like that. It was a long time ago that I asked him though, so I

don't remember all the details, just it had something to do with that piece

of intestine and how things are put back in.

Yes, I was debating mentioning this. Since I've been learning more about

colons than I ever wanted to know, I can clearly identify the " shape " as the

gurgling happens. I feel it across and then down the left side, where it

stops too tickle at the waist and then does that extra loop I have. LOL!
