Guest guest
Dawn: Those knots you are referring to are normal. I had my TT with MR almost 12 months ago and I had them. They are absorbed back into the body over time. Now... as for your compression garments: KEEP WEARING THEM -- NO MATTER WHAT! Without them the muscles cannot adhere back to the stomach wall. I wore mine for 10 weeks (had to buy smaller ones as the swelling went down), but the results were fantastic! My plastic surgeon said that she did not have many patients with the results I had. (I went from a size 12 to a 4 petite) Yes, 10 weeks is a long time, but once you take the garments off, your stomach muscles feel weak and you are not very comfortable. I wore the Marena garments with a snap crotch. The first 3 weeks I wore the ones that zipped down the sides; the remaining weeks I wore the garments that were like a high-waisted panty girdle. BTW, I also had a breast lift and my bracioplasty (arm reduction) surgery all on the same day with the TT. Talk about being incapacitated... I could not pull myself up out of bed or a chair because of the arms and could not stand up without help because of the stomach! I was a site to behold... And you will not see your true size for at least 6 months' it takes that long for all of your swelling to disappear! Take care and good luck with the sick family... Guest guest
Dawn, Keep the pressure garment on until your surgeon tells you to take it off. I had to wear mine for four weeks. Actually, I felt secure with it on, and really did not relish the idea of removing it. The knots will resorb. But, after almost seven months post-op, I still can feel the stitches beneath my anchor incision scar, especially around the navel area and at the " T " junction. Good luck with the flu-sies, Steve -- Steve Goldstein, age 62 Lap BPD/DS on May 2, 2001 Dr. Elariny, INOVA Fairfax Hospital, Virginia Starting (05/02/01) BMI = 51 BMI on 08/04/02 = 35 (-105 lb.) Guest guest
We use no binder at all. <shrug> Thanks, Vitalady, Inc. Got a question that maybe someone will know the answer to. The 17th, I had my abdominplasty. I've been had been doing great the first week. Get out your violins...I'm gonna whine a little..lol. Well of course the family has gotten the flu last Sunday and fevers are still high. Middle child was at 105 this morning. Got it down but being sick, I keep hearing MOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM. Yesterday it hit me at 104. Been in bed all I can but........................ > > Anyway, on to my question. I have been active but to no great extremes and definately no lifting. I called the surgeon's office to get my appointment for stich removal on Monday. I have been wearing this stupid elastic thing around my torso for almost 2 weeks now. The incisions are not really hurting anymore but I have a couple of knots that hurt like crazy. It seems the pressure garment is making it worse. The nurse said to keep it on at all times if I can possibly stand it..except during a shower. The knots are 1-to the left of the belly button and 2-Above the belly button where my original WLS scar is in the muscle. Any ideas? I have sneezed and coughed a little the last week but that only hurt along the bikini incission. Do you think taking this pressure garment off while resting or sitting will hurt...3 days early? I don't really have much bruising or swelling anymore. > > Thanks in advance, > Dawn > > >
